It is well known that the power of nature can reduce stress and anxiety that people are experiencing. Ability to connect with surrounding and found the most common and familiar sound could be useful in order to improve mental health.

Due to the fact that we are moving to most urbanized future, bigger cities, higher amount of people in the world makes me think what is going to be the role of nature and will it still going to have the same meaning for people?

I think that people can not refuse relation with nature so easily, that is why a lot of artificial structures includes nature patterns-the ones people has a natural power to connect to.

"Kagu" is a device that allows user mixing nature sounds in order to find their own harmony, relax and reduce stress. It was created for easy


"Kagu" sound palette is the beginning point for this project as I believe nature sound importance to people, as well as the visual side of this project, could be improved and developed for the better and more future-related outcome.


How could nature sounds be developed into more necessary and more powerful form?

The purpose is to create a speculative sequel for the topic related with reducing stress anxiety and helping people focus on inner growth. It is the problem that is explored in my previous work - "Kagu sound palette" which is related to nature sound exploration.

I want to extend this project to a more future related fictional system of use. It would be beneficial to improve the quality and broaden the potential of this work in order to learn about the potential for future needs and have a wider view of future market. That
is why I want to focus on deepening a field of research and learn to create more effective and valuable outcome
About further concept

The other side of white noise devices and apps is that it does not work for everyone, you really need to find the right sounds, ways of using it, that makes it not the best solution. I found reviews of people that tried to use these devices and took some time to find the right one, although it helped:
“I really did find the downloaded tracks helpful for those times when I couldn't get away from my desk,” she says. (She adds that it took some time to find an app “that was right for me,” so she doesn’t recommend rushing into any software or noise-machine purchases without trying them first.)

For example "Calm" app and website also have a sound and exercise system in order to reduce stress, improve sleep quality or help with meditation.
A big variety of similar choices (which one of it is "Kagu" sound palette) not always exceeds its expectations and usually can not help to actually focus or help the user.

According to the high pace of everyday life the the growth of social, economical or cultural systems, society need more adjustable and innovative ways for relaxation, psychological health improvement an in general better life quality.

The quick tempo of life and new emerging systems, technologies give even more obscurity and anxiety to society. People tend to adapt to new things slowly and gradually in order to avoid additional stress or uncertainty.

Another big challenge is that now we have a technology-driven society. That is why keeping up with a innovations, new possibilities of it is thought to be important aspect in creating an object.

I believe that in order to create system or an object that would help to improve people everyday life with sounds and connection with nature I need to look in a wider view of this problem and the possibilities that this device could have in the future.

Sound and what can be stimulated through it? Some sort of sounds are able to calm people down because it stimulates nerves and brain activity. The ear itself has way more possibilities to be used in order to activate certain parts of people's body.

Mission: monitor our biological signals to reveal when we are emotionally stressed and when our brains are being overloaded


If we are struggling to hear or understand- help us focus on the sounds we want to hear. Reduce the sounds that cause us stress, and even connect to other devices around us, like thermostats or lighting controls, to let the person feel more at ease and relax.

How does it work?

1.detecting an increase in mental stress, based on changes in blood pressure, sweat, temperature, eye direction and brain waves.

2. figuring out where the person is trying to direct attention by pairing stress increase with the electrical signals created in the ear as eyes are moved. Then the hearables will automatically increase the volume of sounds coming from that direction.
Mission is to find a more speculative solution for reducing stress and anxiety in future society and environment.
As for sensors, we already have ones that can monitor heart rate optically, as done today by many wearable fitness trackers, and others that can measure heart rate activity electrically, as done today by the Apple Watch Series 4. We have sensors that monitor blood oxygenation, familiar to many from the finger-clip monitor used in doctors’ offices but already migrating into fitness trackers. We have rings, watches, and patches that track physical and emotional stress, blood pressure monitors that look like bracelets, headbands that track brain waves and patches that monitor attention and drowsiness by tracking eye movement
Current technologies that allows monitoring people physical and mental parameters and how should it meet the user
Having a possibility to be an individualized device, product gets more power, and becomes more desirable of the consumer. Setting parameters according to personal information makes a device also more accurate and effective.

Having power over outside irritants could have a huge impact on mental health and well being. Reducing side sources of stress or even deleting it would make people calmer, less anxious and happy.

The solution should also be easily adjustable and controlled by a person. Maybe remind of existing earbuds or earplugs to make people more familiar with new function but not a very different form

CREATE A DDEVICE THAT WOULD BE USED THROUGH PEOPLE EARS THAT COULD MONITOR AND RECOGNISE PERSON BEING UNDER THE STRESS AND PICK THE RIGHT MEASURES AND FEATURES TO CALM HIM DOWN ACCORDING TO INDIVIDUAL CAUSING PROBLEM
Future technologies will offer us way better and wider possibilities of human body capabilities and capacity. To use nerves, vibrations, heart rate, temperature, hormones, chemical components going to be way easier and powerful

Combining these possibilities with technologies could be a solution to many problems related to not only physical but also mental health. At this point, simple an calming measures, such as nature sounds could not have that much impact or power towards new occurring mental issues.
And why it is important?
New occuring devices that could offer a new way of calming down should have a close and familiar look, so that it would not be used because of uncertainty or fear. It is hard to predict the psychology of the people in the future market, because of the rapid changes these days, but keeping it simple I would say will stay as a key.

A lot of white noise devices has not many functions which can actually help improve and reduce stress. An external effect that gives these devices does not include individual adaptation, except for volume and type of the sound.
As our society hanging and improving every day it is accurate that stress level is rising as well as the tool to cope with that have to adapt to it.
OUTCOME
Within five years, a new wave of smart hearing aids will be able to recognize stress, both current and anticipatory. These intelligent devices will do this by collecting and combining several kinds of physiological data and then using deep-learning tools to tune the analysis to individuals, getting better and better at spotting and predicting rising stress levels. The data they use will most likely include pulse rate, gathered using optical or electrical sensors, given that a rising heart rate and shifts in heart rate variability are basic indicators of stress.
